An Excellent Example of Authentic Quality Canadian 1st Nations Indigenous Art. The blond horse hair contrasting with the black face is STRIKING! For sale is a large carousel quality Northwest coast cedar painted and carved mask. This mask is called a Dzunukwa or Tsonoque (wild woman) mask and has a black face (in some images the sun makes it look lighter) and large red lips in an 'O' shape as well as pierced eyes, nose mouth and blond horse hair. In Northwest Coast mythology, the wild woman is physically strong enough to tear down trees, spiritually powerful enough to resurrect the dead, and possesses magical treasure and great wealth. The Blond horse hair contrasts nicely with the black face, red lips, and natural wood formline. It is signed "Carved by Samual P.J. Albany wild Woman Kwawuka". This LARGE mask is 16 1/2" H X 11 1/2” W and in very terrific condition with a stable age crack in the cedar. This attractive mask looks better in person & would make a great addition to any art collection. I have been selling AUTHENTIC Northwest Coast Masks since 1999 on eBay so buy with confidence.
