Analog Man - King of Tone - $425 in Vancouver, British Columbia for sale

This pedal has only been used in my jam shack. I would estimate it has 10-20 hours of actual playing time and is in MINT condition, no scratches of any kind....MINT, as close as you can get to what comes from the Analogman himself.

This is the normal gain version, which I greatly prefer, having played both. Reason being, it was originally designed to push an amp already at the point of just breaking up. The original design was for Jim Weider. Jim wanted something to replace his TubeScreamer and Mike w/ Analogman started working on the old Bluesbreaker circuit. After changing and playing with all of the diodes, chips, capacitors, etc.....the King of Tone was born.

The entire basis of this design was to give him useable tones across the entire volume/drive/tone range on both sides AND no matter the combination of toggles on the inside of the pedal.

But.....most people I've found don't use it properly and I guess are expecting a thicker overdrive sound and that's what ended up with them coming up with the high gain mod. All he did was start the gain range further along, no circuit changes. So, in other words, the gain starts at say 25% and can go to 125% vs. what the normal gain structure allows. To me, this changes the tone greatly at the end of the range (b/c it wasn't designed for it!) and becomes flabby and loses definition.

Set your amp pretty loud, turn on either side OR both, and then you get why this pedal is so sought after.
