Ludwig vintage 1920's gold snare drum - $2600 in Vancouver, British Columbia for sale

5x14 -- heavy brass shell
10 tube lugs
Original gold lacquer finish
Gold plated hardware
Professional throw-off (strainer) - gut snares
Original calf heads
Estimated date of manufacture 1928

Drum shell is the deluxe 2 piece (soldered at the bead). The gold lacquer finish has minor wear and a wonderfully aged patina.
The gold plating on the hardware does have wear (mostly on the top hoop).
The drum is entirely original.

I bought this drum from the original owner's daughter -- she said her father played the drum in theaters in Chicago and Milwaukee until the late 1940's. He died in the early 1960's and the drum remained in a closet until I purchased it in 1983 (the mother died). Originally, I had the bass drum and accessories but sold them to a collector within a year of the purchase.
