"Butterfly wing sulphide cameo" Sterling silver pin made in England 1920's

Lovely 20 century pin consisting of a bas relief classic Greece figurines reversed painted with white sulphide on a domed glass backed with a Morpho butterfly ground.

Pin would have been made during the early 20th century. They became popular after an exhibit by Thomas L. Mott at the British Empire Exhibition in 1924.

Engraved on back "T. M. & Co. Sterling Silver Made in England" and is in excellent condition with no rusty deterioration on the Morpho butterfly wing piece.
